David Askren joined the St. Johnsbury Band in 1994 and served as Treasurer from 1997 - 2006. David was awarded
a lifetime membership in the Band in 2010. David is also a member of the Danville Town Band and the Northeast
Kingdom Community Orchestra. He occasionally plays at services in local churches.
David enjoys musicals and has performed in the pit band/orchestras with local community theater groups.
He has played in Oklahoma and The Pirates of Penzance with the St. Johnsbury Players and
Camelot and Carousel with the Danville Summer Singers. As a member of the Burke Brass Quintet,
he performed at First Night St. Johnsbury several years ago.
David also plays the piano and grew up in Southern California where he marched in the Tournament of Roses
Parade as a member of the Granada Hills High School Marching Band.
David has his own business called "Kiss My Winds and Brass Music Instrument Repair" repairing primarily brass
and wind instruments. He also repairs percussion instruments and does some guitar repairs. He also teaches
mathematics and technology classes for Community College of Vermont.
