The St. Johnsbury Band awarded its highest recognition, Lifetime Membership, to Dr. Ronald Ducham and
John Goodrich at its annual meeting November 3, 2006. Lifetime membership is given only to band members
who have given enduring time and made significant efforts to advance the goals of the St. Johnsbury Band.
Ducham, clarinet, and Goodrich, tuba and baritone, are longtime band members and fine musicians. They have
both been members since the 1960s and have regularly attended rehearsals and performances over the years
despite significant professional and personal conflicting obligations. Both have served, at various times,
as director, assistant manager, and manager of the band. They have distinguished themselves through
extraordinary service by rearranging the band's music library of thousands of pieces of music.
Goodrich also has done significant research on the bands lengthy history as the third-oldest
continuously operating band in the United States. Both men are founding members of the Maple Leaf Seven
Dixieland Band.
Ducham has practiced general dentistry since 1967 and lives in St. Johnsbury with his wife, Madeline.
Goodrich is vice president and general manager for Weidmann Electrical Technology in St. Johnsbury, where
he has worked since the early 1970s. He lives with his wife, Nancy, in St. Johnsbury.
