St. Johnsbury Band
Annual Meeting - 2013
The St. Johnsbury Band held its annual dinner and business meeting on November 18, 2013, at Bailiwick's in St. Johnsbury, VT. The evening started off with a social hour prior to the dinner. The sit-down dinner provided plenty of good food served by the very nice staff at Bailiwick's.
The business meeting was held after the dinner. Dianne Wyllie presented a summary of the minutes from last years meeting, which were accepted without change. Peter Fichte presented the Treasurer's report which was also accepted. An update on the Band's investments was presented by Scott Labun.
Out-going assistant manager Jim McGregor presented a new addition to the Honorary Band Member plaque. Gary Larabee, of the Hastings Store in West Danville, was so honored. He has been supplying the ice cream for the weekly summer concerts, to the delight of our concert-goers. McGregor also presented two names for the Remembrance Plaque: Homer Fontaine and William Herrick. Fontaine played the tuba in the band many years ago. Herrick played in and directed the band from the Civil War period to the 1890's. He was also a member of the Vermont 1st Brigade Band from 1862-1869.
This year, two Lifetime membership awards were made. Lifetime membership is given only to band members who have given enduring time and made significant efforts to advance the goals of the St. Johnsbury Band.
The first Lifetime Membership award was given to Gloria Moore. Moore plays the trumpet and had been in the band for many years. She seldom misses a rehearsal or a concert. She also plays with the Lyndonville Military Band.
The second Lifetime Membership award went to Barbara Daniels. Daniels plays the trumpet but has mostly served the band behind the scenes for the last few years as the music librarian. She pulls old music and gets out new music as the Band progresses through each season. She sorts the music and keeps the library organized, which is very important to the Band.
Complete lists of the St. Johnsbury Band member awards are available on the Members page.

The business meeting ended with the election of the slate of officers and board members. The current group of officers were all returned to their current positions except for the assistant manager position and one trustee position. Debi Smith and Robert Warden are stepping in to take over for Jim McGregor as the assistant manger. Kathleen Barber is replacing Susan Gallagher as trustee. Gallagher will be assisting with publicity for the Band.
