St. Johnsbury Band
Annual Meeting - 2014
The St. Johnsbury Band held its annual dinner and business meeting on December 1, 2014. This year was a potluck dinner held at the North Congregational Church. There was quite a variety of really good food and desserts. No one left hungry!
The business meeting was held after the dinner. Dianne Wyllie presented a summary of the minutes from last years meeting, which were accepted without change. Treasurer Peter Fichte was unable to attend due to illness so manager Dave Hare presented the Treasurer's report. There was a small discrepancy in revenue and expenses that had not been resolved. Peter's illness is forcing him to step down so the report was tabled until the new Treasurer, Kirsten Harter, can take over and resolve the issue. The Band's investments have seen about a $4000 increase this past year due to reinvestment of dividends and an increase in the value of shares. There are new reporting requirements from the state that the Band is not in compliance with at this time. Kirsten will also be working on getting the Band back into compliance.
The slate of nominations for the various positions was presented to the Band by Bobby-Ann Fearon. The slate was unanimously passed. The slate can be seen on the Contact Us page. Outgoing trustee Joan Mead was thanked for her service and Jean Ashley will take on responsibility for the Band uniforms.
The date and time of the final Christmas concert was set for Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 1:00pm. This concert will be held at the Alexander Twilight Theater at Lyndon State College at the same time as the Burklyn Arts Holiday Bazaar. The Band encourages people to take advantage of the opportunity to hear some great holiday music and shop at the same time.
The Band will start up again on Monday, January 19, 2015 at our usual rehearsal time of 7:00pm.
There was other discussion on insurance issues and several old instruments the Band would like to sell. The business meeting was adjourned following this discussion.
